CARLOS GONZALEZ
Carlos Gonzalez is the Director of Bands at Victoria East High School where he leads the development and success of the marching band program, concert bands, and jazz ensemble. In addition to his responsibilities at VEHS, Mr. Gonzalez also assists with the Symphonic and Concert Bands at Howell Middle School and Stroman Middle School.
He plays regularly as a freelance horn player and bass guitarist with the Corpus Christi Municipal Band, the Crossroads Jazz Ensemble, the Crossroads Strings, the Crossroad Community Band, and TCCR in Victoria. He has performed in professional ensembles under the direction of the world-renowned Colonel John R. Bourgeois, Composer Frank Ticheli, and Composer David Holsinger.
He is a past winner of the Texas A&M University Kingsville Regional Horn Solo Competition and teaches privately in the South Texas area. As a jazz musician, he has performed with the likes of Wayne Bergeron, Andre Hayward, “Blue” Lou Marini, Doug Beach, Frank Mantooth, and Tom Braxton. Mr. Gonzalez graduated from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi with a Bachelor of Music. Mr. Gonzalez is a member of professional organizations such as Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
